2. A SAFE SHELTER

Theme – Design a compact, temporary and portable shelter for a homeless person at Delhi. The Design required to be inexpensive not exceeding Rs.2000, where an individual can sleep, protect their belongings, temporary with no foundation, can be easily constructed, protect occupant from rain, harsh sun and winter, no specified equipment required to construct the shelter and portable.

3. A TOOL HOUSE

Theme – Two families (5 members each) lives in 4mx5m tenement in one of the slums in Mumbai. They are earthen pot makers. Miracle happens and they become joint owners of their tenement and the land where tenement was built. Design a TOOL HOUSE that can become their residence and work place. The design should be economically sustainable for these two families. Height of the building should not exceed 15m.

4. PROMOTING CULTURAL IDENTITY: STREETSCAPE REDESIGN

In the processes of economic and cultural globalization, Indian cities lack strong identity. Place identity emerges as a central concern of both scholars and other people. Streetscape is an immediate vista of the city that people grasp and create the general image and identity of the city. A creative community vision can continuously evolve and embrace new ideas while balancing the inherent conflicting nature of past, present, and future community values and culture. Select a place or street in any Indian city that can be redesigned to promote cultural identity of the community.

5. Product & Industrial Design

The NICHE 2018: 3rd Neo-International Conference on Habitable Environments and International Professionals Meet 2018 is calling designers, engineers and architects from around the world to submit their most innovative designs to its design trophy competition.

Topics-Choose one of seven categories for your entry:

  • Aerospace & Defence -- Product innovations with applications in the aerospace, aviation, and/or defence markets.
  • Automotive/Transportation -- Products that enable movement of people and goods from one place to another.
  • Consumer Products -- Products that increase quality of life in the workplace, at home, during leisure time, or while traveling.
  • Electronics/Sensors/IoT -- Products that improve computing, communications, sensing, test, and other fields that rely on advances in electronic components, boards and systems; products that enable an interconnected world – the Internet of Things (IoT).
  • Robotics/Automation/Manufacturing -- Products that speed, improve, and/or automate work, manufacturing, and research & development (R&D).
  • Medical -- Products that improve the efficiency and quality of healthcare.
  • Sustainable Technologies -- Products that reduce dependence on non-renewable energy resources, as well as products designed for other purposes using environmentally friendly materials or manufacturing processes.

Submission Requirements:-

  • Size of Pdf/jpeg/png not more than 10 MB each and Submission should be in A4/letter size max.300 dpi.
  • Number of renders- 2 to 4
  • Participation- 1 to 2 members
  • Required: Abstract of maximum 500 words
  • Video, Animation and Prototypes are not compulsory.
  • Maximum size of video is 25 MB in avi/mp4 Format and length will be up to 5 Minutes. Only one video will be accepted per entry

6. Interior and Furniture Design

The NICHE 2018: 3rd Neo-International Conference on Habitable Environments and International Professionals Meet 2018 is calling designers, engineers and architects from around the world to submit their most innovative designs to its design trophy competition.

Brief

The participants are required to use the vernacular culture of any downtown site into their design proposal and architectural built form. The participants can use natural elements and picturesque surroundings and develop a restaurant as an open, semi-open seating zone for 30 people. The genre/style of the restaurant is left upon the participants’ interpretation and could vary from a cafe style/dhaba to a fine dine depending upon the concept.

Submission Requirements: -

  • A3 presentation in PDF format not to exceed 15 MB.
  • 2 to 4 Renderings of the completed space.
  • Participation-1 member to a team of 2 members
  • Required- Abstract of maximum 500 words
  • Registration fees- 500 INR/Member
  • 1st Prize- 6000 INR
  • 2 nd Prize- 4000 IN
