Since the successful launch of the first small satellite in 1957 by USSR, continuous efforts have been made by researchers and academicians towards the deployment of more advanced techniques for space studies. The small satellites provide an inherent advantage in comparison to their larger counterparts owing to their small size, cost, the timeline for manufacturing to the mission. As a result, a greater number of unique payloads are available for deployment in limited resources to enhance the space services for ‘Anybody Anywhere Anytime’.
Nowadays, plenty of industries and start-ups have entered the small satellite business paying a keen interest in small satellites missions making it a Trillian dollar market for producing commercial products and goes hand in hand with the government bodies. They will enable information delivery and knowledge exchange without the historical delays associated with terrestrial relays, human-in-the-loop decision making, and ground-based processing. The applications for these small satellite missions ranging from asset tracking, earth observation, defence-related space programs, communications, space science, environment monitoring, and other applications of small satellites. The conference commensurate with all the current technological aspects to support the advancements in space research by integrating new elements such as artificial intelligence, advanced machine learning approaches, and sophisticated onboard processing for real-time commercial applications.
“Small Satellite Services 2 Anybody Anywhere Anytime (3S 2 3A)” is a very fitting statement for describing the second International Conference on Small Satellites (ICSS 2022) organized by Lovely Professional University in association with Society for Small Satellite Systems (SSSS) to be held at Lovely Professional University, Punjab, India from April 29, 2022 to April 30, 2022.
The conference will explore the realms of a variety of payload designs for small satellites, small satellite applications, orbital control systems, power management systems for small satellites, communication satellites, inter-satellite communication, telemetry and telecommand, navigation and RF systems, quality, testing, and reliability aspects of small satellites, spacecraft autonomy, constellation management, structure, mechanism and materials, space law, space business and many more. This is the second event in the country and first by any university especially for highlighting the cutting-edge technological aspects of small satellite missions and business.
This flagship event is expected to attract academicians, technologists, industry experts, scientists, engineers, and young researchers from different research labs, and institutes of repute from India and abroad for sharing their experiences and their contributions in the field of small satellites. The conference will be enriched with invited talks and keynote addresses by eminent personalities from academia, research institutions, and industry. Moreover, a one-day pre-conference workshop is scheduled on April 28, 2022 with a focus on satellite payload design for benefiting the budding technocrats, UG/PG students, and research scholars.
